where do you get those catchy titles !?!?

Since I cannot come up with a catchy title let me just begin with Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is a desktop Linux distribution, based on Debian GNU/Linux. It is sponsored by Canonical Ltd (owned by Mark Shuttleworth), and the name of the distribution comes from the South African concept of Ubuntu — roughly, "humanity towards others".

I began my interest in Linux because of a student a few years ago while teaching at a boarding school. First I piddled with Red Hat’s Fedora like a good North Carolinian, but quickly lost interest the first time I had to use the terminal. Ok, this Mac boy was not a dos fan!!! You know, Apple, the perfecter of GUI. So a few years later, and let me say Linux has come a long way.... I tried SUSE and WOW thought, "here it is... you have finally arrived!!!" but that blessed terminal was about to make my efforts... well... terminal. Not to let it get the best of me, like pc's and Microsoft have, I pushed on into it and found that SUSE 10.1 was real and an alternative to someone who was willing to do a little research if they wanted the out of the ordinary usage provided by a basic pc.

So from SUSE 10.1 to Ubuntu 6 in its various forms here we are today. I have set up a LAMP server – several times over on different machines (for fun not due to problems), Xubuntu, and edubuntu. I have played with DSL, Feather, and more. Neeedless to say UBUNTU OPENED THE DOOR FOR ME!!!!

Thanks Mark Suttleworth, and all who work on this Debian based linux. ( I do know what that means now too!! Also thanks to Novel and SUSE. You kept me on the edge!
